A door bolt is an easy way of adding extra security to a door. A door bolt lock secures the door and prevents it from being opened, available in many styles and finishes together with different lock types to suit your situation. The traditional type of door security bolts are a slide bolt, available in straight or necked versions. A straight bolt is supplied with a staple keep and should be used where the door and frame are flush. A necked or cranked bolt is used in a situation where the door and frame are not flush. The sliding part of the bolt is angled at the end to clear a frame or architrave. A necked bolt is normally supplied with a flat plate receiver. You can purchase door bolts with narrow fitting plates or heavy duty door bolts that generally have a wider back plate and are stronger.
