Cranked Knuckle

A type of hinge construction where the leafs have an offset to bring the hinge flaps closer together in the closed position. There can be different amounts of swaging in different hinge types. This is designed to minimise the gap between the door and jamb where the hinge is fitted which in turn reduces the amount of timber that needs to be removed to mortice the hinge.
